It can be done by developmental pediatricians, child neurologists and finally child psychologists, for refined problem definition and management planning.

Diagnosing Autism – Tests and Challenges

Hearing your child has autism can be a heart wrenching ordeal. There are signs to look for if you think your child might suffer from autism. Autism is a brain development disorder and is usually diagnosed before a child turns three years old. – If your child is showing speech regression, there might be a reason for concern. If a doctor suspects a problem, they will perform a battery of tests. Every child is different, so one test will not show if a child has autism. Every child has different symptoms and responds to the disorder differently. A doctor will start with performing auditory tests. There could be other reasons your child isn’t speaking well or not playing well. If your child does get diagnosed with autism, it’s important to give your child structure. Get one doctor who is going to give your child a uniform treatment.

That alone would cause speculation that autism has a genetic link of some sort.

A set of twins not sharing the autistic symptoms has yet to be found among the many research models from autism.

In a recent study from the Autism Genome Project (AGP), there was a general consensus that chromosome abnormalities, particularly on chromosome number 11, are the basis for autism.

Believe it or not, schedules play a very important part in every child’s life.

The lack of a schedule in an autistic child’s life can make things very hectic, both for them and for you. If you need to make a change to the schedule for whatever reason, be sure to take extra time to carefully explain it to the child. Children with autism like a schedule and routine, and even a minor change can put a huge dent in their whole day.

Show them the activity or task and carefully explain that this task must be completed before you can move on to the next activity, pointing to the next activity.

While having a schedule is important for all children, it is particularly important for autistic children. This autism intervention or ABA can be used to teach many skills that are broken down into smaller sub skills. If the child likes candy he/she may begin to say “hi” more often; if the child does not like candy, the probability of the child increasing that behavior is not likely. Don’t let your child suffer anymore!

Treatment of Low Blood Sugar for Autism

Autism and anxiety are one. An autistic person often experiences anxiety attacks due to their inability to properly process the world around them. Many autistic children experience extreme difficulties in coping with the ever changing world.

Due to an inability for most autistic children to soothe themselves you may find they become overly anxious as a result of minor routine changes. Autistic children tend to be visual learners so using a picture schedule or picture book to show what will happen may help ease their anxieties.

To the anxious autistic child the world around them is unstable and ever changing.
